[11:59] {Roman} Some very interesting action in the market. About an hour ago when AHM -- one of the smaller lenders -- first announced it will try to liquidate its assets, we saw four things happen:
[11:59] {Roman} 1) the higher quality lenders such as CFC and WM initially held up well, likely on the theory that they would survive and eventually benefit from the weaker lenders going under (those two have since sold off to session lows);
[11:59] {Roman} 2) the big brokers rolled over, as they have whenever there has been negative news regarding the lenders;
[11:59] {Roman} 3) the second- and third-tier mortgage-related names got smoked, probably as investors thought any number of co's in the latter group could be next to liquidate; and
[12:00] {Roman} 4) it took a full hour for the broad market averages to figure out where they stood on the AHM debacle, as the market essentially chopped around from 1:15 to 2:15 or so...

[11:59] {Roman} Some very interesting action in the market. About an hour ago when AHM -- one of the smaller lenders -- first announced it will try to liquidate its assets, we saw four things happen:
[11:59] {Roman} 1) the higher quality lenders such as CFC and WM initially held up well, likely on the theory that they would survive and eventually benefit from the weaker lenders going under (those two have since sold off to session lows);
[11:59] {Roman} 2) the big brokers rolled over, as they have whenever there has been negative news regarding the lenders;
[11:59] {Roman} 3) the second- and third-tier mortgage-related names got smoked, probably as investors thought any number of co's in the latter group could be next to liquidate; and
[12:00] {Roman} 4) it took a full hour for the broad market averages to figure out where they stood on the AHM debacle, as the market essentially chopped around from 1:15 to 2:15 or so...
